Our Story
Merkeb Grocery Store was founded with one mission: to bring the rich flavors, traditions, and culture of Eritrea to the Triad community. Whether you grew up eating injera and zigni or you're discovering East African cuisine for the first time, our shelves have something special for you.
We carry the Meley flag with pride — a symbol of unity, identity, and the unbreakable spirit of the Eritrean people. That same spirit lives in every product on our shelves and every service we offer.
We proudly serve the Eritrean diaspora as well as neighbors from across the world seeking authentic imported ingredients, fresh food, and community services all under one roof.
See What We OfferThis store is more than a business — it is a sanctuary where my community can come and find their peace, their familiar flavors, and a piece of home. I strive every single day to make Merkeb Grocery a better place, not only for myself and my family, but for every customer who walks through that door and chooses to support this vision. It is their trust, their loyalty, and their presence that fuels everything we do. My deepest commitment is to serve this community with dignity, authenticity, and a warm welcome — because when this community thrives, we all thrive together.
